When the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference released its selections for the first-of-the-season women’s basketball Players of the Week, Ciara McKinney (junior, Moore, Oklahoma) was named Offensive Player of the Week for her Oct. 28 performance against Central Christian College. These awards are voted on by KCAC member institutions’ sports information directors (SIDs).

Sykes named national Offensive Player of the Week

Among the the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference’s first-week men’s basketball Players of the Week was Deven Goodwin (senior, Chicago), who was selected as the Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in two Thresher victories Oct. 28 and Oct. 29 against Central Christian College and Grace University. KCAC Player of the Week awards for all sports are voted on by the member institutions’ SIDs.

A little over a month into competition, forensics has four nationals qualifier

Bethel College’s streak of national tournament qualifications in forensics remains alive and well, with students advancing for the 40th straight year.

That covers the entire history of the American Forensic Association National Individual Events Tournament (AFA-NIET). Bethel is one of only six colleges or universities in the nation to have that distinction.

The Threshers have now qualified four students in nine events, including a freshman in her first-ever semester of collegiate competition – and have done it in the first five weeks of forensics competition.
